Friendly Visitor/In-Home Respite Program

We’re there to be a companion, just watch over them, just keep them busy, play games, cards, anything they like to do. I put myself in their place.  It’s a loving, giving situation.

ACC Friendly Visitor Program Volunteer

ACC Friendly Visitor/In-Home Respite is part of our Caregiver Support Program. ACC recruits, screens, and conducts background checks to qualify volunteers. Once trained, the Friendly Visitors, under the oversight, supervision and guidance of ACC, provide family caregivers an opportunity to take a break (respite) from their caregiving duties and serve as friendly visiting companions to frail older adults.

Their primary activities include:

  • Companionship and Safety Supervision
  • Play games or engage in creative arts
  • Light exercise, short-distant walks
  • Reading, watching TV/movies together

For more information about the program, contact Soojin Yoo, Social Worker, at (916) 503-5386, by email, or see the Friendly Visitor Fact Sheet.

Help needed! Volunteer to become a Friendly Visitor and make meaningful impact supporting our older adults and their caregiving families. Please contact our ACC Volunteer Coordinator for more information.
