Planned Giving

Planned Giving allows donors to make a gift to ACC at a later date, usually when the donor passes away. The gifts are typically donated through a will or trust that the donor and/or the donor’s family has been planning for a long time.

Sometimes ACC is aware of a donor’s decision to include us in his or her planned giving. Other times we only find out after the person’s passing. But in most cases, we have a close connection with the donor. He or she may have spent time at the ACC Care Center, lived in one of our assisting living facilities, been a volunteer, or all of the above. Occasionally, the donor was not active at ACC but was moved by our mission or the help we provided to someone they knew.

Two common types of Planned Giving are:

Bequests

This is the most common and simplest form of giving. A gift is made when the donor passes away. It can be a specific amount, a percent of the donor’s wealth, or the remainder of the donor’s assets after all bequests are paid out.

Trusts

ACC is granted a certain annual amount of money from the donor’s trust for a fixed period of time or until the trust runs out. There are several variations of this including Charitable Remainder Trusts and Charitable Lead Trusts which are designed to facility the transfer of assets to family members, produce tax benefits, and help charitable causes.
