Memory Care at ACC Maple Tree Village

ACC Maple Tree Village provides services to those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. Memory Care provides the same services as traditional Assisted Living including meals, laundry, hygiene assistance, help with activities of daily living, medication management, social activities, and transportation.  Memory Care additional features enhanced environmental supervision, access to medical professionals, and a smaller more supportive community environment.

Situated on the southern end of the community, our Memory Care apartments are surrounded by enhanced safety and security measures.  From “wanderguard” technology to delayed egress doorways, ACC’s Memory Care supports residents’ independence with staff interventions, supervision, and redirection 24/7.  We encourage residents to walk around the community spaces, living rooms, and self-expression stations while in a specifically designed environment.

All “apartments” in ACC’s Memory Care are individual studio spaces with full private bathrooms.  At ACC Maple Tree Village, we refer to a resident’s private space as an apartment to further increase a resident’s feeling of privacy, independence, and ownership.  Included with their private apartment, we include telephone hook-ups, cable television service, wi-fi accessibility in common areas, private bathroom, and shower accommodations along with outward-facing windows with privacy roller shades.

Memory Care communities are licensed by the California Department of Social ServicesCommunity Care Licensing Division (CCLD). They represent a growing need across the country. Today, there 5.7 million people in the U.S. with Alzheimer’s.

Does one need to have Dementia or Alzheimer’s to live in Memory Care?

A resident does require a diagnosis of dementia to live in a Memory Care apartment. Memory Care is specialized to support those suffering from memory loss due to any reason; medical, psychological, developmental, etc.

The Difference Between Dementia and Alzheimer’s

Dementia is a general term that describes a person’s decline in memory, cognitive skills, and the ability to perform activities of daily living. There are many causes of dementia. The most prevalent form of dementia is Alzheimer’s, a neurodegenerative disease which accounts for 60 to 80 of all dementia cases. Vascular dementia due to stroke is the second most type of dementia. The effects of Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia can be slowed down, but these conditions are not reversible. Some types of dementia caused by trauma, drugs, alcohol, depression, and vitamin imbalances may be reversible.
