New Name, New Look – Same Mission, Meals on Wheels Rebrands

Meals on Wheels by ACC was formed back in 2010 when ACC Senior Services took over Sacramento County’s senior nutrition program. The County wanted to discontinue the program due to soaring costs. ACC stepped in, streamlined operations and created an affiliated non-profit, Meals on Wheels by ACC, to ensure that the older adults who depended on meals did not go hungry.
Recently, after much consideration, the Meals on Wheels by ACC Board of Directors approved a new name and a new logo. In July, we will become “Meals on Wheels – Sacramento County” and we will adopt the national branding standards of Meals on Wheels America, with navy blue, teal, and lime green colors. Our little red truck will be getting a paint job to match the new logo, but we’re still the same people.
We changed the name for a number of reasons:
1) To make it easier for everyone to know who we are (Meals on Wheels) and exactly where we serve (Sacramento County).
2) To avail ourselves of the power behind the name recognition that the national brand commands.
3) To modernize our look. After 14 years we’ve evolved to serve more than 1,500 older adults through our home-delivered meal program and another 800 more who attend our 17 community cafes or 4 restaurant program partners. We have 40 staff and more than 300 volunteers, most of whom deliver meals.

While our name and logo will change, almost everything else will remain the same: phone number (916) 444-9533 and website mowsac.org and administration address: 7375 Park City Drive, Sacramento 95831. Our mission will not change: to serve nutritious meals with a friendly smile to seniors in Sacramento County.
